Ukraine, TTIP top German Chancellor’s US visit agenda
(VOVworld) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel began her 2-day US trip on Thursday with her agenda priority given to the crisis in Ukraine and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) of the two countries. US President Barrack Obama is scheduled to welcome Ms. Merkel on Friday afternoon as the two leaders will hold talks at the White House with discussions focusing on tensions in Ukraine and other international issues of mutual concern, including Tehran nuclear issue, the situation in Syria and the Middle East.
Germany aims to finalize TTIP negotiations by the end of 2015 to boost growth and generate jobs for both sides. The two leaders are expected to discuss the US National Security Agency spying on the German chancellor, which is not easy for both sides to reach a common voice, according to analysts.
