In a press statement, the UN Security Council said, North Korea had fired three ballistic missiles into waters to its east. The members of the Security Council agreed that the Security Council would continue to closely monitor the situation and take further significant measures against Pyongyang.

On Monday, North Korea launched 3 ballistic missiles into its eastern waters. South Korea’s Defence Ministry said the launch was believed to be of mid-range Rodong missiles, which flew about 1,000 kilometers.

In another development, Japan is planning to organize a trilateral meeting with China and South Korea in later this year to enhance cooperation to deal with North Korea’s nuclear development and boost efforts to fight terrorism. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and South Korean President Park Geun-hye are expected to attend the meeting to be held in Tokyo, Japan.
