UN Security Council extends sanctions on Sudan

(VOVWORLD) - The United Nations Security Council on Friday adopted a resolution extending sanctions on Sudan for another year in connection with the conflict in Darfur.

All 15 Council members unanimously approved Resolution 2791, which prolongs the sanctions including an arms embargo, travel bans, and asset freezes until September 12, 2026.

Under the resolution, the Security Council also extended the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the Sudan Sanctions Committee until October 12, 2026, and requested the panel to submit its final report to the Council by January 13, 2026.
