Central Texas was hit by torrential rainfall on Friday, causing rivers to rise rapidly and leading to devastating flash floods. Officials confirmed that more than 20 girls remain missing after participating in a summer camp.
Rescue operations are underway, and over 850 people have been evacuated to safe areas.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared a state of disaster in the affected areas and emphasized that search and rescue remains the top priority. Meanwhile, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem highlighted the need for federal resources, particularly aerial equipment, to support rescue missions.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is also providing assistance and resources to help Texas cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
