(VOVWORLD) - Amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, US media on Wednesday reported that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group are being redeployed from the East Sea to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility, which includes the Middle East.

A carrier strike group is centered on an aircraft carrier and supported by multiple warships.
The deployment was initiated just a few hours after data indicated that Iran had temporarily closed parts of its airspace, particularly areas surrounding the capital, Tehran.
So far, the Pentagon and US officials have not officially confirmed reports of the carrier’s movement to the Middle East.
