(VOVWORLD) - The US Department of State said Friday that the US has terminated 5 Beijing-sponsor exchange programs with China amid tension in bilateral ties.

The programs allowed US government officials to travel with foreign government fund. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the five programs, which are fully funded and operated by the Chinese government, do not bring mutual benefits, calling them “soft power advertising tools.”
