US imposes sanctions on Russian oil giant Rosneft
(VOVWORLD) - The US Treasury Department said on Tuesday that Rosneft Trading SA, a subsidiary of Russian oil giant Rosneft, and Didier Kasimiro, the subsidiary’s president and board chairman, have been blacklisted over alleged Venezuela oil exports.

The US said Kasimiro has been cooperating with the Venezuelan state-owned oil company PDVSA over the past month to export 2 million barrels of Venezuelan crude oil to West Africa.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the US sanctions on Russian defense and oil companies show that US companies are unable to win in a fair competition. Russia claimed that the new sanctions won’t affect relations between Moscow, Caracas, Damascus, and Tehran, adding that the sanctions will only weaken the global economy and complicate US-Russia relations.
