US, Japan, South Korea seek to resume dialogues with North Korea

(VOVWORLD) - The South Korean Foreign Ministry said Monday that special North Korea envoys from the US, Japan, and South Korea have agreed to continue cooperating towards a complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula through dialogue with Pyongyang.

The Ministry said US envoy Sung Kim, South Korea's top nuclear envoy, Noh Kyu-duk, and Japan's nuclear envoy Takehiro Funakoshi pledged to cooperate to reach a sustainable peace on the Korean peninsula through dialogue with North Korea as soon as possible. Mr. Kim said he hopes North Korea will respond positively when the US suggests talks.

US Department of State spokesperson Ned Price said Washington is ready to negotiate with Pyongyang anytime and anywhere without preconditions.
