US President Barack Obama to visit Asia in April

(VOVworld) – The coming tour of Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Korea in April is part of US President Barack Obama’s commitments to increasing its engagement in diplomacy, economics, and security enhancing in Asia-Pacific.

During his stay in Tokyo, Obama will meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to consolidate the alliance which was established 54 years ago. Topics for discussion will include ways to promote economic relations with the approval of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement and improved cooperation in handling regional and global diplomatic challenges.

In Seoul, Obama will hold talks with President Park Geun-hye on joint efforts to push the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and the implementation of the bilateral free trade agreement.

From Seoul, Obama will head to Kuala Lumpur to meet Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to discuss deepening diplomatic, defence, and military ties.

Obama's final stop will be Manila where he will meet Philippine President Benigno Aquino and discuss economic and security cooperation including the modernization of military alliance and measures to bolster economic ties and people-to-people exchange.
