US President pushes Mexico wall with speech, border visit
(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump pushed Monday for a showdown in his fight over the controversial US-Mexico border wall, announcing a primetime speech and a visit to the southern border.
The president's address is scheduled for 9PM EST on Tuesday. The White House said President Trump is expected to address the government shutdown, the border crisis, and the deadline for federal workers' paychecks. He will also be visiting the southern border on Thursday to promote his plan for a wall to keep out undocumented immigrants.
The presidential speech and visit come as congressional Democrats refused to fund his 5.7-billion-dollar wall project that led to the partial government shutdown.
