Victory over Pol Pot regime marked in HCM city
(VOV) – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association met on Monday in Ho Chi Minh to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the victory over the Pol Pot regime and the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship year.
The participants reviewed the history of the victory on January 7th which freed the Cambodian people from Pol Pot’s genocidal regime and opened a new chapter in the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. Sam Samouth, Cambodia’s Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city, said: "Vietnam’s investment in Cambodia is now estimated at 2.5 billion USD and the number of Vietnamese visitors to Cambodia is increasing. Cambodian people always bear in their hearts the great assistance of the Vietnamese people which helped Cambodia not only in its struggle against a genocidal regime but also in our national restoration and construction effort".
A Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association branch and a Vietnam – Cambodia Business Club were also established on this occasion.
