(VOVworld) – The Party politburo held a national conference on preparations for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 term.
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said: “The election is an important political event as it takes place following the success of the 12th National Party Congress. It provides an opportunity for the people to elect their representatives to the legislature and people’s councils at all levels. It is an opportunity to establish and consolidate a socialist state governed by law of the people, by the people, and for the people. This is the central political task of the Party, army, and people in 2016.”
National Assembly chairman and President of the National Electoral Council Nguyen Sinh Hung requested the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Electoral Council, the government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, provinces, and relevant agencies to work closely together to complete all preparations in time.
