(VOVworld) – Minister of Defense General Phung Quang Thanh is leading a delegation to the 7^th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting, ADMM in Brunei. At the 3-day meeting until May 8, ASEAN Defense Ministers will discuss current defense and security issues and ways to boost cooperation in the field for regional peace and stability.

The meeting will approve new cooperation initiatives involved in setting up a defense exchange program among ASEAN members, a logistics support framework, and a team of experts to defuse bombs and mines left from wars. Vietnam’s initiative to create a task force for mine clearance matches this year’s theme “Securing Our People, Our Future Together”.
