(VOVWORLD) - Indonesia's rice imports in 8 months of this year reveal that Vietnam is its second largest rice supplier, said Indonesia’s Central Bureau on Statistics (BPS).

PudjiIsmartini, Deputy Head of Statistics and Services of BPS, said that from January to August, the three largest rice suppliers to Indonesia were Thailand (1.13 million tons), Vietnam (870,000 tons), and Pakistan (460,000 tons).
The Indonesian National Logistics Agency, Bulog, has just announced a rice tender for September with the largest quantity ever of 450,000 tons. The rice must be white with 5% broken and produced in the year 2024.
Eligible suppliers include Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Pakistan, with deliveries expected in October and November.
