Vietnam begins 3rd phase of COVID-19 vaccination
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will receive another batch of more than 1.68 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine sponsored by COVAX Facility on Sunday.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long has asked localities and agencies to immediately prepare the 3rd phase of COVID-19 vaccination plan.
The Expanded Immunization Program will continue to organize training on the COVID-19 vaccination and screening and handling of post-vaccination reactions to ensure safety. Lessons from the previous 2 phases will be learned.
In March 2021, Vietnam began its vaccination roll-out with priority given to frontline medical workers and people involving in COVID-19 prevention and control activities.
As of Thursday, nearly 960,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered to the target groups. The second phase of the scheme is expected to complete on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said the Ministry is arranging 110 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for Vietnam's large-scale vaccination.
Vietnam will receive 40 million doses from the COVAX Facility and 30 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that were already ordered. The Ministry of Health is proposing buying 31 million doses of Pfizer vaccine and vaccines from other sources.
