General Secretary To Lam reviewed the long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China—built and nurtured by generations of revolutionary predecessors from both countries and cherished and preserved by their peoples.
He said the relationship between the two Parties and countries is developing well in all fields, with increasingly close and solid people-to-people exchanges. This reflects the value of their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and the strategically important community with a shared future, which Vietnam and China elevated in December 2023.
In order to promote relations between the two countries in the coming period—amid current profound and fundamental changes—Party leader To Lam emphasized the need for Vietnam and China to jointly define a vision for a new era of development in bilateral ties.
This vision should be based on four pillars: maintaining strategic exchanges and advancing political trust; strengthening practical cooperation across multiple fields and creating new growth drivers; further strengthening the favorable social foundation for Vietnam-China relations; and working together to build a peaceful and stable environment for the new era and the new stage of development in each country.
Chinese Party leader and President Xi published an article in Vietnam’s Nhan Dan (People) newspaper on Monday, praising the enduring friendship between the two Parties, the two countries, and their peoples. He said the China-Vietnam community with a shared future is rooted in deep political trust, nurtured by fertile ground for cooperation, and propelled by close people-to-people exchanges.
Mr. Xi said China considers Vietnam a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and expressed a desire to work with Vietnam to build a strategically significant China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
He outlined key directions for this effort: deepening strategic mutual trust and advancing the socialist cause; upholding win-win cooperation to deliver more benefit to the peoples of both countries; expanding people-to-people exchanges and forging a closer bond between the peoples; enhancing multilateral collaboration and promoting Asia’s prosperity; and properly managing differences to maintain regional peace and stability.
