Vietnam committed to promoting, protecting human rights
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Home Affairs held a conference on Thursday to review human rights work in 2025 and outline tasks for 2026, in preparation for the 70th anniversary of Human Rights Day. The event aligns with the United Nations’ theme for 2025, “Human Rights: Essential Values for Everyday Life.”

In his address, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang said that in 2025 the ministry implemented a wide range of key tasks to fulfill Vietnam’s international human rights commitments.
Regarding labor and employment rights, Deputy Minister Vu Chien Thang said: Ensuring the right to employment and the right to work remains a top priority. The ministry has actively directed efforts to expand job platforms to help people secure employment, while the revised Law on Employment has been promulgated. The ministry has also negotiated and signed cooperation agreements with relevant agencies and organizations in other countries to strengthen international labor cooperation.

In 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs will lead the Vietnamese delegation in dialogues with the United Nations Committee on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
Following the dialogue, the ministry will develop an action plan to implement the committee’s recommendations, reaffirming Vietnam’s continued commitment to advancing human rights in line with international law, while enhancing staff capacity and inter-agency coordination in fulfilling international obligations.
