They are community volunteers and healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients, taking samples, testing, and tracing contacts.

Nguyen Dieu Thuy, a community volunteer in Ai Quoc ward, Hai Duong province, said, “I’ve already received a vaccine shot. My health is stable so far. I’m on duty at my COVID-19  station. I really hope the pandemic will end soon.”

Vietnam has accessed COVID-19 vaccines under the COVAX Facility, which is co-led by GAVI, the World Health Organization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and UNICEF.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health is engaged in negotiations with Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Gamaleya which produces Sputnik V. Vietnam wants to take advantage all possible vaccine sources to maximize its vaccine coverage.
