At a session chaired by Malta’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs and Trade, Mr. Giang said responding to climate change and sea level rise should be comprehensive and people-centered.

He said relevant UN agencies need to strengthen their role in coordinating activities.

Ambassador Giang said the UN Security Council should hold more discussions with scientists and experts, share information about the impact of sea level rise on peace and security, develop a database, and adopt an early warning system for sea level rise in conflict zones.
