The meeting was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam–UNICEF cooperation and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

At the meeting, Ms. Kunugi praised Vietnam’s strong commitment to health care, nutrition, water, sanitation and child protection, and expressed her hope for effective implementation of the 2024 Law on Justice for Minors.

Amid global economic and financial volatility, climate change, migration, and population ageing, she said Vietnam is a model for making children the center of development policies. She welcomed the Vietnamese Government’s adoption of an action plan to implement CRC recommendations.

Ms. Kiladze praised Vietnam’s budget allocation for children’s affairs and said the CRC is ready to cooperate with and support Vietnam in advancing children’s rights.
