(VOVworld) – Laos’s media have given broad coverage to the Vietnamese President’s state visit from June 12 to 14. Laotian newspapers said the visit, the first overseas by President Tran Dai Quang since his election, demonstrates Vietnam’s wish to deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

They highlighted results of the talks between President Quang and President Bounnhang Volachith, who agreed to increase the exchange of visits, continue to implement bilateral cooperative agreements, increase political trust, and strengthen cooperation across the board. They agreed to work closely together to consolidate ASEAN’s unity and enhance ASEAN’s central role in regional security, stressing the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, and safety in the East Sea. They agreed to join other ASEAN members in promoting the settlement of disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means in line with international law and implementing the DOC towards adopting a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
