Vietnam, Laos pledge closer coordination in global, regional forums

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao National Assembly Vice President Sounthone Xayachack agreed to continue to closely coordinate in global and regional forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

During their meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday, on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the two leaders expressed their pleasure at the consolidated, effective and practical cooperation between the two countries and the two National Assemblies.

They agreed on a number of key cooperation areas in the near future, including deepening political relations, cooperating on strategic issues; enhancing economic connectivity, and cooperating in trade, energy, and logistics.

The two sides also agreed to increase information exchange and share experiences on new issues in Party building, political system building, and streamlining the apparatus, including the National Assembly apparatus.
