Jointly held by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in partnership with the Regional Trade for Development (RT4D) support program, the event introduced the project’s objectives and key activities, providing a platform for government authorities, business support organizations, industry associations, and the business community to exchange views on RCEP implementation in Vietnam.

Addressing the ceremony, Le Trieu Dung, director general of the Ministry’s Multilateral Trade Policy Department, said that the RCEP, signed in November 2020 between ASEAN and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, covers 2.3 billion consumers, approximately 30% of global GDP. The deal implementation has facilitated regional trade and investment as well as enabled businesses to make more effective use of regional supply chains.

For Vietnam, its membership is becoming a key driver in expanding export markets and deepening international economic integration. Last year, Vietnam’s exports to RCEP markets reached 172 billion USD, up 30% compared to 2021.

The newly-launched project seeks to strengthen capacity and support for Vietnamese businesses, especially those of micro, small and medium size, enabling them to capitalize on opportunities provided by the Agreement.

It also aims to promote the participation of women-owned businesses, rural enterprises, and businesses inclusive of people with disabilities, thus ensuring inclusivity and sustainability throughout the process of utilizing RCEP.
