Vietnam maintains ASEAN unity together with other members
(VOVWORLD) -Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung on Monday reiterated Vietnam's readiness to continue working with the Philippines, in its capacity as ASEAN Chair in 2026, and other ASEAN member states to maintain the bloc's unity and centrality.

During a phone call, Foreign Minister Trung and his Philippine counterpart Maria Theresa Lazaro agreed to further cooperation in trade, investment, digital transformation, agriculture, and maritime and ocean cooperation. The two ministers agreed to continue to coordinate closely at global and regional multilateral forums like the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations.
Discussing global and regional issues, they shared deep concern over the escalating tensions on the border between Cambodia and Thailand; emphasized the importance of restraint by all parties involved, enhancing dialogue, reducing tensions, and resolving disagreements peacefully on the basis of international law and existing regional agreements and mechanisms.
