Vietnam, Mozambique hold high-level talks

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on Monday had a private meeting and held talks with President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, who is visiting Vietnam with his wife.

At the private meeting, To Lam congratulated the achievements that the State and people of Mozambique have achieved under the wise leadership of the FRELIMO Party in maintaining political stability, solidarity, national reconciliation and socio-economic development of Mozambique. The two sides agreed to consolidate the traditional relationship between the two Parties as a foundation for the development of bilateral relations, and maintain theoretical research activities, experience exchange and cadre training.

At the talks, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his belief that the visit would create new momentum and further deepen the fine traditional solidarity, cooperation and friendship that has been inherited, nurtured and continuously developed by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Nyusi expressed his deep impression on Vietnam’s strong development as well as its global prestige and position. He applauded Vietnam's achievements in the field of agriculture and expected that Vietnam would support Mozambique in developing agriculture.

The two leaders agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels through all channels to consolidate political trust; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at global and regional forums, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the African Union (AU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The two sides agreed to continue facilitating the penetration of each country's key products into each other's markets, such as agricultural products, garments, seafood, coal, etc. and study the possibility of expanding the joint venture cooperation model to investing in cashew processing lines and building seafood processing factories in Mozambique.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides shared a vision on the importance of ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, emphasizing support for resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

At the end of the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of two cooperation documents, including the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique and the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the Ministry of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries of Mozambique.
