Vietnam, Oman urged to boost bilateral ties

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for increased Vietnamese-Oman ties at a reception for the new ambassador of Oman Sultan Saif Hilal Al Mahruqi in Hanoi on Tuesday. He said he hoped that the two countries would bolster cooperation in politics and diplomacy and strengthen mutual support at international forums. He urged for increased cooperation in potential areas such as economics, trade, investment, tourism, and labor. He said that Vietnam would consider the opening of an embassy in Oman.

The Oman ambassador said his country was ready to help Vietnam boost cooperation with other Gulf countries. He proposed that Vietnam and Oman approve the mechanism of an inter-governmental committee, which would set out new areas of cooperation and policies to support their businesses to access each other’s market.
