Vietnam People’s Army’s 80th anniversary commemorated in Bangkok

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese all-people defense approach is rooted in the principles of self-defense and being proactive, resolute, and consistent in deterring war, said Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Viet Hung at a ceremony in Thailand on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defense Festival.

Ambassador Hung said that over the past 80 years, the Vietnam People’s Army has continuously developed and proved its mettle as a revolutionary army.

“The Army comes from the people, fights for the people, and deserves a special political force, an absolutely loyal and trustworthy fighting force of the Party, State and Vietnamese people,” he said.

Hung noted that the Vietnam People’s Army consistently promotes international integration and defense diplomacy on bilateral and multilateral fronts to create an environment conducive to peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

Attending the ceremony were two Deputy Permanent Secretaries of the Thai Ministry of Defense, General Adinan Chaiyarerk and General Tharapong Malakam, representatives of the Royal Thai Army, Ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic agencies, and Defense Attaches of countries serving to Thailand.

The ceremony screened presentations on the establishment and growth of the Vietnamese army and defense industry.
