While co-chairing the 13th Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy PM Son also called for innovation to be prioritised as the key driver of the next phase of cooperation. He stressed the need to place people at the heart of development, with a focus on ensuring water, food and energy security, and fostering the growth of cultural industries.

Mr. Son announced Vietnam’s plan to host the 13th Mekong-Republic of Korea Business Forum in September, centred on digitalization and innovation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea issued a Joint Co-Chairs’ Statement.

The Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation mechanism includes six countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
