Speaking at a government conference reviewing Vietnam’s economic diplomacy in 2025 and outlining tasks for 2026 in Hanoi on Friday, the Prime Minister said Vietnam would focus on diversifying markets, products, and supply chains while strengthening trade, investment, and technology cooperation with key partners.

In 2025, Vietnam upgraded relations with 17 countries and signed 350 cooperation agreements, 2.5 times more than in 2024, focusing on economic, trade, investment, and science-and-technology cooperation with key partners. Overseas diplomatic missions organized nearly 500 economic diplomacy activities to promote trade, investment, and tourism, while helping localities sign around 100 agreements with international partners.

The Prime Minister urged a focus on emerging markets such as Latin America, the Middle East–Africa, Central Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the effective implementation of existing FTAs and negotiations for new ones with Pakistan, MERCOSUR, India, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

He also emphasized promoting Vietnamese brands abroad, supporting overseas investment, accelerating the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railway project, and advancing nuclear power development.
