Vietnam reiterates ASEAN’s commitments and efforts to respect and promote human rights

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Permanent Representative to the UN, Nguyen Trung Thanh, has reiterated that the principles of protecting human rights and essential freedoms are clearly stated in the ASEAN Charter. Addressing the UN Human Rights session in Geneva, Thursday, Thanh said Vietnam and the ASEAN share a common interest with the international community in human rights protecting and improving and wish to contribute to international co-operation and dialogue on the issue. The 25th UN Human Rights Council session is scheduled to close on March 28th.
