Vietnam, Russia push LNG projects

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday visited and worked with Novatek, a leading Russian and global gas corporation based in Moscow, to promote large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Chinh applauded Novatek's proactive exchange and cooperation with Vietnamese partners and expressed confidence that the compatibility in development orientation will create a synergistic impact for both sides.

He asked the Russian company to closely coordinate with localities, agencies, and state-owned enterprises in Vietnam's energy and oil and gas sectors, such as the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam), Vietnam Electricity, and private enterprises, to participate in and implement projects, including the construction of Novatek's large storage facility in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister encouraged Vietnamese businesses to strengthen cooperation with Novatek on natural gas liquefaction technology. Novatek leaders expressed strong agreement, saying that they will actively exchange information with Vietnamese partners to promote the projects and cooperation activities that Prime Minister Chinh suggested.
