Vietnam shares experience on minimizing natural disasters

(VOVworld) – The Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction began in Geneva , Switzerland, on Monday. Attending the event was 4.600 representatives of 188 governments and 500 organizations.

The Vietnamese delegation is led by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat. In his presentation, Phat said natural disasters caused by climate change are great challenges to national development. Corporate measures are needed to minimize the risks of natural disasters. He stressed the need to have uniform precautionary and combat measures across the country, from the central to grassroots levels. He underscored the importance of involving of businesses and the public and increasing regional and global cooperation in minimizing disaster risks and coping with climate change.
