Vietnam urges concerned parties in Gaza to respect ceasefire
(VOVworld) – Viet Nam condemns military activities targeting UN schools in the Gaza strip, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh was answering reporters' questions on Thursday regarding Viet Nam's reaction towards the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas:
"Vietnam condemns military activities targeting UN schools in the Gaza strip that caused causalities among both civilians and UN staff. Vietnam calls on concerned parties to respect the newly reached ceasefire and positively promote negotiations for peace and stability in the region."
Regarding activities to evacuate and protect Vietnamese citizens in Ukraine, Le Hai Binh said the Foreign Ministry has instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to stay in close touch with the local Vietnamese community while urging competent agencies to ensure their safety. The Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine has taken every measure to protect its citizens, especially the complicated developments in the east.
Binh also said that approximately 246 Vietnamese workers had left Libya for home, adding that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, were cooperating with the relevant agencies to ensure the safety of their workers in Libya.
Mr. Binh also announced some significant upcoming diplomatic activities by Vietnam, which included a visit by a delegation of US congressmen to Vietnam, led by John McCain, between August 7th and 10th. Both sides are expected to discuss bilateral ties and regional issues of mutual concern.
