Vietnam urges G20 to focus on climate change response

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet attended the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Governance Group (3G) held on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Ministers of 3 G20 countries (India, Brazil, and South Africa) and Ministers and senior representatives of 30 3G countries attended the meeting. A 3G Press Statement was adopted, which urged countries to put aside their differences and work toward an open, transparent global governance system.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Viet expressed his support for Brazil’s G20 Presidency in 2024, the priorities of sustainable development, and increasing the voice of developing countries in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mr. Viet urged the G20 to focus on responding to climate change, saying G20 countries need to take the lead in reducing emissions and helping developing countries adapt to climate change. He emphasized the need to reform the global governance system to ensure fairness and inclusiveness.
