Vietnam works to ensure people have access to clean water

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam strives to fine-tune the institutional and policy framework, ensure people have access to clean and hygienic water, commit to ensuring maximum benefits that water brings, and minimize water-related harms, contributing to economic development and improving people's quality of life.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha addressed the opening session of the UN Water Conference in New York on Wednesday. He said Vietnam has been implementing policies and solutions to strengthen the effective management, protection and sustainable exploitation and use of water resources, contributing to ensuring the implementation of sustainable development goals in accordance with the 2030 Agenda.

The Deputy PM reiterated Vietnam’s pledge to maintain cooperation with other countries, actively participate in action programs and collaboration initiatives on water and water security, and share information, particularly with countries with shared water sources, contributing to global efforts for a world of sustainable development.

The UN Water Conference from Wednesday to Friday is focusing on five dialogue topics: Water for health; Water for sustainable development; Water for climate, recovery and environment; Water for cooperation; and Decade of Water Action. 

The conference is expected to adopt the 2023 Water Action Agenda.
