The protest attracted not only Vietnamese students and expatriates who have lived for many years in France, but also many non-Vietnamese friends. Some local organizations, including the French Trade Union, the French Students’ Association of Grenoble (UNEF), and the Union of Human Rights (LDH) sent representatives to the demonstration to show their support for Vietnam. The protestors raised the Vietnamese flag and banners in Vietnamese, English, French, and Chinese demanding that China withdraw its oil rig and respect international law.
