Vietnamese in Czech Republic pray for peace on New Year

(VOVworld) – 200 overseas Vietnamese Buddhist followers gathered in the capital city of Prague, Czech Republic, to pray for a new year of peace, happiness, and prosperity. This is an annual activity of overseas Vietnamese living far from their homeland to remember their ancestors and origin.

According to Most Venerable Thich Thien Bao, member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee, the ceremony on the 15th day of the first lunar month is the most important event of the Buddhist followers. He said: “Overseas Vietnamese living in Czech, Hungary, Poland and many neighboring countries look forward to this ceremony. This event is organized to encourage overseas Vietnamese to celebrate Buddhism and contribute to their home land.”

Attending the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Truong Manh Son wished the Vietnamese community there a good year with many new successes and advised them to always remember their homeland.
