Vietnamese youth commit to peacekeeping

(VOVWORLD) - Young officers from the Vietnam People’s Public Security Force are commemorating Youth Month 2025 by pioneering in peacekeeping efforts in Vietnam and beyond.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, an immigration officer at the Hanoi Police Department, has volunteered to join the Ministry of Public Security’s Peacekeeping Police Unit. She said, "I’m receiving training on hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and apprehending criminals. I wish to contribute my youth, alongside other young officers of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces, to the UN peacekeeping mission. I hope our efforts will leave a good impression of Vietnamese youth on the international community. We are always ready to dedicate ourselves to ensuring global peace and security."

Lieutenant Le Quoc Su of Vietnam Police Peacekeeping Unit No.1, at the Ministry of Public Security, is determined to overcome all challenges. "I work for the High Command of Guard Police. We specialize in the protection of high-profile foreign dignitaries. I am aware of my responsibility to ensure security and safety not only for Vietnamese citizens but also for international delegates visiting Vietnam. I want our international friends to see Vietnam as a hospitable, peace-loving nation. Joining peacekeeping missions is my way of contributing to ensuring peace,” he said.

Members of the UN peacekeeping force must undergo rigorous assessments to meet the UN’s high standard, which ensure that all officers have the necessary qualities and skills to operate in an international environment.

Captain Tran Thi Thu Trang, a peacekeeping officer currently serving in South Sudan, said, "I always strive to fulfill my peacekeeping duties, even in this harsh environment, where security risks are ever-present. I wish to showcase Vietnam’s strong commitment to global peace and security."

Many Vietnamese peacekeepers have been awarded the United Nations Medal for their contributions. Their dedication conveys a powerful message: Vietnam is a responsible nation that deeply values peace.
