Vietnam, Poland reinforce defense cooperation frameworks
(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Defense Minister Hoang Xuan Chien on Monday suggested that Vietnam and Poland focus on reinforcing bilateral defense cooperation’s frameworks and mechanisms, as he held talks with his Polish counterpart Pawel Bejda, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

During the talks, Chien also proposed expanding delegation exchanges at all levels to foster mutual understanding, trust, and defense cooperation in line with the overall Vietnam-Poland relationship, strengthening cooperation in training, United Nations peacekeeping, defense industry, and military medicine.
Deputy Minister Chien called on Poland to continue to support defense cooperation activities between Vietnam and the EU, in line with the framework of the agreement signed between Vietnam and the EU. He said he hopes that Poland will have a say in support so that the EU will soon lift the yellow card imposed on Vietnamese seafood.
The Deputy Defense Minister of Poland said Vietnam is an important partner in Southeast Asia and that Poland wishes to ramp up cooperation with Vietnam not only in economics but also in defense, particularly defense industry, training, and UN peacekeeping.

Both sides expressed their pleasure at the effective implementation of the bilateral defense cooperation agreement, signed in 2010. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is ready to receive Polish service people to study Vietnamese at the Academy of Military Science and attend international training courses at the National Defense Academy.
The same day, Minister of Defense General Phan Van Giang received a high-ranking delegation of the Polish Ministry of Defense led by Deputy Minister Pawel Bejda.
