Wanderlust has named the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh as the top adventure travel destination in Vietnam.

The Phong Nha cave system after which the park is named is one of the longest in the world at nearly 45 kilometers, and there’s a labyrinth of underground rivers and dry, terraced, suspended, dendritic and intersecting caves. Beyond its vast cave system, the National Park offers a range of unique adventure experiences. Visitors can paddle through caves, explore fast-flowing underground rivers, or camp overnight deep inside the caverns.

Next on the list is trekking through the terraced rice fields of Sapa  in Lao Cai, known for its wild landscapes and key attractions such as Mount Fansipan, Muong Hoa Valley, terraced rice fields, and ethnic villages of the Mong, Dao, and Tay people. Sapa’s landscapes offer plenty to hikers looking for short trails or multi-day walks.

The remaining destinations include diving and snorkeling in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province; canyoning and mountain climbing in Da Lat, Lam Dong province; Kayaking, cycling and caving in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province; Sand, wind and kite surfing in Mui Ne, Binh Thuan province; and rock climbing in Huu Lung, Lang Son province.
