(VOVworld) – People across the world joined the festivities to welcome the New Year of 2017. Millions of revelers gathered along Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil for one of the biggest New Year parties on earth.

New Year's Eve scintillating fireworks were displayed at the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Egypt hails in 2017 with a fireworks extravaganza at the historic Pyramids.

Fireworks also brightened the skies over some of the world's most iconic landmarks. In France, about 600,000 people poured into the Champs-Elysees, where the Arc de Triomphe was lit up with a colorful countdown and the word "welcome" in dozens of languages.

People gathered by London's famous landmarks, including Big Ben and the London Eye to watch a fireworks display celebrating the arrival of 2017. About 80,000 people enjoyed street parties in London.
North Koreans welcomed the New Year with a 15-minute firework show at the Kim Il Sung square in Pyongyang.
