FAO regional conference stresses agriculture’s primary rol in people’s life
(VOVworld)-Representatives from 40 countries and territories gathered in Hanoi today for the 31st UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regional conference for Asia and the Pacific. During the five-day meeting, delegates will discuss the rising global food prices, food security, poverty, and exhaustion of natural resources. Doctor Hirioyuki Konuma, Assistant to the FAO General Director for Asia and the Pacific said the organization aims to build a poverty and child malnutrition free world where food and agriculture play a primary role in improving everybody’s life. The world population is 7 billion including 925 million poor people. 10 million children under five die every year and one third of them suffer malnutrition and vitamin deficiency.
