At a meeting of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in Hanoi on Thursday, the Prime Minister highlighted Vietnamese workers’ increasing status in the international labor market. Phuc stressed the need to implement the Party guidelines for the development of the working class in the next five years focusing on a sustainable labor market, improving policies on human resources, and rezoning land to build workers’ houses and schools.

"We need to improve trade union policies on housing, schools, canteens and kindergartens in industrial parks. The State will work closely with localities to build houses for workers. I hope that enterprises and employers will pay more attention to workers’ lives while promoting their business development. It’s necessary to harmonize interests properly by generating more jobs for workers," said Prime Minister Phuc.

Workers account for 14% of Vietnam’s population and 27% of the labor force but contribute 67% to GDP.
