WHO Regional Committee for the Western Pacific meets in Hanoi

(VOVworld) - The 63rd session of World Health Organizations (WHO) Regional Committee for the Western Pacific opened in Hanoi today.

The event has drawn officials from 37 countries and territories across the region. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan spoke at the opening ceremony: "Vietnam’s hosting of the 63rd session of the World Health Organisation’s Regional Committee for the Western Pacific, the biggest medical conference in the region, has underlined the close and effective cooperation between Vietnam, the WHO, and other regional countries. It will also help broaden Vietnam’s integration into the international arena", says Doan.

High on the agenda of the five-day event will be discussions on outstanding health issues in the region, including making policies and approving action plans for the future. The session will include a workshop on nutrition. Five resolutions and five regional strategies are expected to be adopted by the end of the session.
