Hanoi’s exchange program brings regional maritime law enforcers together

(VOVWORLD) - Maritime law enforcers from Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand gathered in Hanoi on Wednesday for the second edition of an exchange program hosted by the Vietnam Coast Guard Command.

Among the attendees were also representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The event was designed to enhance mutual understanding and improve collaboration among the parties for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

The program is a multilateral activity initiated by the Vietnam Coast Guard to realize the guidelines and perspectives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on international integration and defense diplomacy, Vietnam Coast Guard Commander Major General Le Quang Dao said.

“Through this event, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and its regional peers have reached a common understanding on their agreements to build a maritime region of peace, friendship, and cooperation,” he added.

Key activities at the event included bilateral meetings between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the guests, a visit to the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, a tour of Ha Long city, and a gala night.
