Smart technology applied to combat IUU fishing in Da Nang
(VOVWORLD) -Da Nang City is accelerating the application of advanced technologies in the management of fishing vessels and fishing activities, as well as in seafood traceability as part of the effort to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

These measures include affixing QR codes to fishing vessels to facilitate information lookup, deploying smart vessel monitoring systems, and applying artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically issue alerts and minimize violations related to illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Most vessel owners and captains have been trained in installing and using mobile applications for fishing vessel management, electronic logbooks, and seafood traceability on their smartphones.
In the near future, Da Nang City will roll out a smart vessel monitoring system integrated with AI to automatically issue warnings and promptly detect vessels that lose monitoring signal connectivity or cross maritime boundaries, with the aim of combating IUU fishing.
