The festival, which is held on the tenth day of the first lunar month, started with a ritual to worship the tutelary gods by the village elderly who prayed for favorable weather and bumper crops.
This year, the 400-year-old wrestling festival attracted hundreds of wrestlers from Thua Thien Hue province and neighboring areas.
Nguyen Van Trai, Chairman of Phu Mau Commune’s People’s Committee, said: “Sinh village’s wrestling festival is held to pray for favorable weather and bumper crops. Visitors and locals are excited to join the festival. This year’s festival featured several activities, including music and art programs, and fairs of local specialties. It also has folk games and booths selling souvenirs.”
