[VOVWORLD] - A special exhibit highlighting the history and legacy of Vietnam’s revolutionary press is underway at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site in Hanoi to mark the 101st anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21.
Titled "Steel Pen, Loyal Heart" the exibit traces the inception and development of Vietnam's revolutionary press.
Through documents, images, and artifacts, the exhibition honors journalists and revolutionary fighters who used their pens as weapons in the struggle for national independence.
The exhibition portrays journalists working in the extremely harsh conditions of prison or battlefield. From secret newspapers compiled behind prison bars to news reports made amidst bombs and bullets, the revolutionary press of Vietnam contributed to spreading the patriotic spirit, the willpower, and the aspiration for national independence.
The exhibition covers three themes: historical milestones, steel pens and loyal hearts, and carrying the legacy forward.
The first section, “Historical Milestones”, gives an overview of the birth of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, marked by the first publication of Thanh Nien newspaper on June 21, 1925, in Guangzhou, China. The paper was founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc as the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the second section, “Steel Pens, Loyal Hearts”, which shows journalists working under the harsh conditions of prisons and battlefields.
