The opening ceremony began with a parade featuring 56 sports delegations representing local communes, wards, agencies, and organizations and was followed by the traditional torch relay from the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House at the E2 Hill historical site, led by national karate athlete Lo Van Bien and other outstanding athletes.
The 12th Dien Bien Sports Festival includes 20 sports with 143 competition events. Following the opening ceremony, a large-scale art and sports performance themed “Dien Bien Forever Echoes” was staged, featuring nearly 1,000 soldiers, students, athletes, and performers.
The program recreated the heroic spirit of the Dien Bien Phu Victory while portraying a modern Dien Bien that is renewing itself, integrating internationally, and confidently entering a new phase of development.
