IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said 10 sailors have lost their lives in more than 30 attacks on vessels. He urged shipping companies not to send vessels to the Gulf so as not to increase the death toll among sailors or incur further economic losses.
Earlier the United Arab Emirates accused Iran of carrying out multiple missile and drone attacks targeting oil facilities and vessels in the Gulf region. Tehran denied conducting any such attacks but warned that it would respond forcefully to any military action against Iran launched from UAE territory.
